Teacher Training, CEF West Texas

Training is crucial to our ministry to children. Every volunteer needs to be prepared to present the message of salvation, teach the children from God’s Word, or to serve as club administrative assistant or grade shepherd.

Whatever the assignment, we want our volunteers to feel confident and ready to go!  It’s a challenge in our busy world, and CEF is always looking for ways to provide training tools to help you effectively reach out to boys & girls in your area.

When a church adopts a school for an after-school Good News Club®, it forms a team of people who will serve together providing a dynamic weekly Bible club for children in that school.  The team includes a coordinator, administrator or secretary, teachers, and grade shepherds.

Once the team is in place, CEF® provides eight hours of training, and then helps the club get started. Good News Club Workshops are also offered for all GNC volunteers to introduce a new lesson series. Plus, some CEF chapters have quarterly “Lunch & Learn” training opportunities. They are also great opportunities for fellowship with other GNC teams.

Since the gospel message is central to our mission, each volunteer is taught how to present the gospel on a child’s level using a tool like the Wordless Book – a book of colors – along with the Word of God.

People from the partnering church, who cannot commit to being in the club each week, are asked to provide prayer support and help with the purchase of snacks for the kids.

Good News Club is a wonderful outreach for a church!  It helps a church connect with children and families that need to know Christ and grow in their faith.

Training for Good News Teams:

Teaching Children Effectively™ – Level 1

TCE1 provides practical learning experience designed to equip students with basic skills and effective methods to evangelize children and immediately begin a community outreach ministry.

The emphasis of TCE1 is placed on organizing and conducting meaningful classroom activities which can enrich children spiritually. In addition to regular course work, students are required to participate in teaching five children’s classes applying the methods learned in the course.

For course information, contact your local CEF chapter. Some classes are taught in-person and some via Zoom.  No matter the venue, we love teaching this class and equipping people who want to reach children with the gospel.

Summer Ministry Training
Christian Youth in Action®

Our main training in the summer is the youth training school held in June – Christian Youth in Action.   See the page for CYIA in the “Get Involved” menu.

Children’s Ministries Institute®

The Children’s Ministries Institute exists for the express purpose of promoting the evangelization and discipleship of children around the world. This purpose is carried out primarily through training and equipping workers and leaders for CEF ministries.

In addition, those working in the local church and other mission organizations can benefit from the training which will enable them to minister to children in their sphere of influence.

Believing that ministry to children is crucial for world evangelization, the Children’s Ministries Institute:

  • Prepares students to evangelize unreached children with the Word of God, disciple them and establish them in a local Bible centered church.
  • Equips them to offer practical training for adults desiring to have an impact on future generations through dynamic outreach ministries to children.
  • Helps them build the managerial and leadership skills needed for developing a children’s ministry primarily in Child Evangelism Fellowship and in other missionary organizations.

Get Involved Through Prayer

Our Mission

To reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ in 98 counties in West Texas. This seems impossible to humans, but with God all things are possible! He wants us to seek Him through prayer and trust Him as He works.

Many CEF chapters across the country partner with a prayer ministry called Fueled By Prayer. Friends of CEF can call in to pray with a fellow believer about specific needs in the chapter.  We are in a battle for the souls of children, so prayer to our Heavenly Father is vital!

Fueled By Prayer was started by Jimmie Borders, a successful businessman from Kentucky. He came up with the idea to grow the prayer for ministries around the world. Jimmie’s goal is to have Christians calling in daily and praying together. This vision includes giving to participating ministries from the profits of his businesses. His goal is to give at least $1 million to ministries each year.
